Social Media Addiction

Table of Contents

At the start of this year, 2024, I changed up my method to get more things done. Ensuring that I still had time for the joys in my life. Instead of using several different software I used one – Evernote. Any other note taking app would have done – but the plan was simple really. Before the start of every month this year I would create a list of micro goals instead of the New Years Resolutions that would often fade on the second of January.

Commit to completing a list of things each month. Make it achievable. Finish everything within the month, and the rest of the time spending time with loved ones and the things I enjoyed the most. The projects had to be ones that I had a drive and interest for. This would ensure that even if the items on the list got tough – I would struggle upwards.

At the start of the month I would think of several items that I wanted to complete. I have listed what these projects as of the first of January. I have also listed the sub tasks – that ensured each larger project was broke up into more managable action based steps.

Yoga App – January 2024

I am looking to create a yoga app for my website Zen on Purpose. I started the site a year ago to use as a personal blog but it never really took off. I decided this month I wanted to revive the site as it was the perfect domain for my new interest – mindfulness and yoga.

At the start of the year I looked through all kinds of yoga apps – but very few laid out a real roadmap. I have always loved the gamification of apps and how it can bring about health habits into the real world. Producing apps that are not only good for you but also made fun.

The plan was to fill this gap. But also I knew that I wanted an app like it so why not make it myself. My app development knowledge is fairly limited – but I do know various coding languages, which will help me on the learning curve. Well I hope.

Define Objectives and Features:

Objective: Clearly define the purpose of the app (e.g., promoting yoga practice, providing tutorials, tracking progress).

Features: List essential features, such as video tutorials, workout plans, progress tracking, community features, and maybe even integration with wearable devices.

Project Tasks

  1. Set Up App Development Stack
  2. Write 30 Journeys. I am looking to make the player complete daily tasks and move through a story. The story only progresses with each time the user comes back. It make the user want to return – to find out what happens. In turn insentives them to use the wellbeing app over other apps on the market.
  3. Write Journeys 1 to 3. This was the writing of the characters and the first pilot jouneys in the inital app build.

Personal Website – January 2024

I have made some slight adjustments to my personal website this month. One of the major changes was the mass redirection of all my articles. I wanted this website to reflect what I was doing – a recount for myself and to ensure I remained accoutable.

Unfortunatly when I started this blog I just dabbled into all of my different intrests. It was heavily dilluting on the message, not to mention the fact that Google could not determine the niche – causing SERP rankings to become more difficult with a failure to esablish EAT.

The plan was to move the articles to respective niche websites that I would create. The Portfolio Pursuits (PP) series would remain here on the personal blog. After all it was what this website was meant to be from the start. A progress update and recount of what I was doing over all the years.

The second was to repurpose the Health Haven articles to my site Zen on Purpose (ZOP). The vast majority of the article that I wrote in this section where about fitness and well being topics. So, it felt pretty natural to combine them all under one roof.

Something that I was really axcited for was the revival of my oldest website. The first one that I ever made straight out of university. The Long Commute (TLC). The name was inspired by the drudgery of long commutes on the train. The idea was to post articles that related to financial freedom. How I was navigating a graduate job and working to build multiple streams of income. Well that was the idea anyway.

Instead I started the website and because I was still learning the ropes at the time – I was unsure of how to attain the top spots on Google. The idea was now with my new knowledge and case studies to revive this site. A great addition to the website portfolio. All of my Intriguing Insights are now over there as all the content related to self development and finance.

For my book summaries that were on this site they are on over at bookishbriefs.com (BB). The is a completely fresh domain so it will be nice to track its progress over the next few months.

To ensure all of these transitions worked smoothly I ensured all conent was 301 redirected to the new sites.

  1. Plan Content Split Across Websites
  2. Repurpose PP Articles
  3. Create and Finish ZOP
  4. Create and Finish TLC
  5. Create and Finish BB
  6. Migrate BB posts to BB
  7. Migrate Finance Article to TLC
  8. Migrate HH posts to ZOP

Ecommerce Stores

Kindled Craft

I currently have two websites that I am thinking about moving from a advertisment model to an ecommerce model. The money I am recieving with the current views is not suffcient and I think they will have a better time, building the brand and sourcing high quality local products.

First there is Kindled Craft (KC) that I am looking to redesign the site, remove overuse of adverts and consolidate the content based on rank position after two years. The site is bringing in about 4000 viewers a month currently which is off its all time high. I have not updated this site now for over a year – so this is to be expected.

I want to turn this store into a site that provides gems and candles targeting those into witchcraft as an interest. By using this niche I can start to corner the market on key search term for items. I will have to conduct the research this month and come back to what I found in the niche (competitors etc.).

Craft Miniature

Craft Miniature was a trial site that I started in a niche that I had some knowledge but not to gain any real success. Articles were definitley ranking but at this time I think the content is far to thin. Competition is low in this area – so I think that with more high quality content and an SEO revamp we can bump the visitors to this site. It currently sits at just above 1000 a month.

The goal with this site is to work with my brothers that have extensive knowledge of miniatures. My brother has collected them and reads the lore all the time. My eldest brother works in the games industry so he has a deep knowledge of the space – his house is stacked high with book shelves.

The idea would to then develop a product that is better than something that is currently on the market. At this stage I am not sure whether this will be a two-way market place for trading miniatures or a store selling a niche product within space.

I will work on both these sites over the next month and provide updates as I go, and of course when I get time.

Revamp and Rebrand of the Digital Agency Website

EruptSEO

A large project that was on my list that I can now say is completed is the overhaul of the digital marketing agency website. This is the site that I want to use my skills to offer out to others in the market. I hope that as the pages start to rank, this will act as an organic sales funnel.

Content Creation (January)

Then I carried out some content creation for the site as well. This included four new articles that I have targeted various local keywords. We will monitor how these perform over the next 6 months or so.

Final Thoughts

In my next monthly update I will provide the progess I have made for the month of February. I will also include the list that I had set out to complete at the start of the month. For this month I was able to complete all but one of my projects that I will move to this month.

This was more time spent writing my novel, but I am happy with the progress so far this month. I will be sure to give an update when I am ready.

Anyway, thanks for reading and take care.
